The quarterlife series What is quarterlife? - “quarterlife” is a new Internet series created by Marshall Herskovitz and Edward Zwick, the creative team behind “My So-Called Life,” “thirtysomething,” “Legends of the Fall,” and “Blood Diamond.” What is quarterlife about? - Both the new online series and social network take on the crucial years between 20 and 30, when so many of life’s important decisions are made. The “quarterlife” series tells the ongoing stories of six creative people in their twenties. As with Herskovitz’s and Zwick’s earlier television series, at the center of “quarterlife” is a commitment to realism, the recognition of universal human themes through the truthful depiction of the way young people speak, work, think, love, argue, and just goof around. My quarterlife identity How do I set my default picture? - Go to MY STUDIO. Click Main Pic/Video. Click Browse, find your file and select it. Depending on the medium, select Photo or Video below your file. Click Upload File. How do I remove my default picture? - You do not need to delete your photo to replace it. Just upload a new photo or video over it. How do I make my real name viewable/not viewable? - Go in to Account Settings and check the appropriate dot. My Studio What is MY STUDIO? - Your STUDIO is your workspace and control panel. It allows you to add artwork, photos, videos, audio tracks, and writing to your Works collection and Portfolio as well as edit personal info like your location and interests. You can also record videoblogs and videocomments from your STUDIO. My Works What is My Works? - Your Works is just what it sounds like -- a place for all of your work. You can upload images, videos, blogs, or audio tracks to your Works. How do I upload an image, video, or audio track to My Works? - Click on MY STUDIO in the top navigation bar. Click on My Works and find the category tab relevant for your content. Click the “add” link underneath that tab. How do I remove a photo, video, or song from My Works? - Go to MY STUDIO. Click My Works. Click on the relevant media tab. Locate the thumbnail for the content you want to remove and put your mouse over it. Options will appear below the thumbnail. Click Remove. (Clicking Delete will completely remove the item from your Works and the site). Can I upload more than one file at once? - Yes. While on the upload page for a specific type of content, click the Add Items To Queue button and slate up to ten pieces of content for upload at once. What formats are supported for images? - All standard (and some non-standard) codecs and formats are accepted. What formats are supported for videos? - All standard (and some non-standard) codecs and formats are accepted. What formats are supported for audio? - .mp3 Are there size limitations for photos, videos, or songs? - No, but the files will be resized to fit the site. How can I share my work? 1. Click MY STUDIO.

What is My Portfolio? - Your Portfolio is a Flash-based widget that houses your best Works pieces. How do I add items from My Works to My Portfolio? - By default, the first twenty-five items you upload to your Works go in your Portfolio. These get updated as you add more content, so that your newest work always occupies your Portfolio. You can set manual entry on your Works page, which will discontinue auto-updating of your Portfolio. You will then need to manually select each item from your Works that you want in your Portfolio. How many photos, videos, or songs can I upload to my Portfolio? - You can have twenty-five pieces of work in your Portfolio. Blogs What is a blog? - Welcome to 1999. A blog (short for “weblog”) is almost any editorial work that is created for, and lives on, the web. Blogs can range from personal journals to product and site reviews to rants on religion and politics. How do I create a blog on quarterlife? - Go to MY STUDIO and click My Works. Click Add Blog under the Blog Tab. Pour your heart out. Messages How do I send a message? - Go to the person’s profile you want to send a message to and click Send Message at in the top right. I accidentally deleted a message. Can I get it back? - No. I didn’t mean to send a message. Can I get it back? - No. Settings Can quarterlife save my email address on the login page? - No, but most web browsers allow this capability. How do I change my email address? - Go to MY STUDIO. Click on Account Settings. Enter your new email address twice and click Update. How do I change my password? - Go to MY STUDIO. Click on Account Settings. Enter your old password in once and your new password twice, then click Update. How do I block someone from contacting me? - Go to the person’s profile you wish to block. Click Block User. Confirm block on next screen. I’m not receiving email notifications from quarterlife. - Go to MY STUDIO. Click on Account Settings. Click which email notifications you would like turned on. Click Save Preferences. I don’t want to receive email notifications from quarterlife anymore. - It’s not like our feelings our hurt or anything: Go to MY STUDIO. Click on Account Settings. Click which email notifications you would like turned off. Click Save Preferences. If I delete my account, can I reactivate it at a later date? - No. Deleting your account on quarterlife is permanent. If you would like to be a part of the community again, you’ll need to rejoin and make a new profile. I can’t log-in to my account due to “Site Maintenance” . - When working to improve our database we will some times need to disallow accounts from logging in. The maintenance can be anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours. Check back periodically to see when the site is available again. No information or content you supplied will be altered, though new features, including those that house or affect your information or content, may be available to you.

Downloads Can I download media from the site? - No, not at this time. But we are working to allow this for certain types of media in the future. Tuning In What applications do I need to listen to music and watch videos on quarterlife? - You will need the latest version of Adobe Flash. If not already installed, you can download a free version here: http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/ Embedding How do I embed My Portfolio into my profile on another site such as Myspace? - Go to MY STUDIO. In the bottom left corner of the Portfolio, click on the text “Share My Portfolio”. A small window will pop-up with embed code. Copy the code and paste it in to the appropriate module on the site that you want your Portfolio to appear. Example: For Myspace, copy in to your “About Me” section. You can embed a Portfolio in to any site that accepts embed code, including blogs. Also, you can share other people’s Portfolio’s by going to their profile page and following the same process listed above. How do I embed a photo or video into my Blog? - On your Blog entry page, find the buttons at the bottom that allow you to embed items. Select and follow the instructions. How do I remove a photo or video from my Blog - Click Edit inside the Blog generator and delete the code for the specific item you would like to remove. How do I videoblog? - Go to MY STUDIO. Click on My Works. Click Add Video under the Video tab. Click on Record Video Directly. Follow the step-by-step instructions.

My Friends How do I add a friend? - On each person’s profile at the upper right there will be an Add To Friends button. Click the button and follow the steps. How do I remove a friend? - Go to MY STUDIO. Click Friends. Click the (-) button to the right of the person you would like to remove from your friend’s list. If I remove someone from my friend list, will they be notified? - No. What happens when I ignore a Friend Request? - Nothing. There are no notifications for ignored Friend Requests. Is there a way to cancel a Friend Request? - Not a pending friend request. But you can delete friends and block users. Where can I view my friends? - Click on Friends inside MY STUDIO. Can others see when I’ve viewed their profile? - No. People can only see how many times their profile, or other people’s profiles, have been viewed. How do I invite my friends to join quarterlife? - Click on the Invite Friends link at the bottom of any page, or just send them the quarterlife.com url and tell them to go through the joining process. How do I search for people on quarterlife? - Click on SEARCH in the top menu. Click Friend Finder at the top of the search page. Select the way you would like to search for the person. Enter the appropriate text in the field. Why can’t I find someone in a search? - You may be spelling their name, username, or email address wrong. Or they may not be on quarterlife yet. Send them an invite. How do I search for new friends based on common interests? - Click on SEARCH in the main menu and choose the Advanced Search tab. Fill in the appropriate information. How do I place a videocomment on a friend’s page? - Go to the person’s profile who you’d like to leave a comment for. Click on Add a Comment. Click on Leave Video Comment. Follow the step-by-step instructions.

Logging In I accidentally entered an incorrect email address when setting up my account. - You will need to create a new account with your own email address. I don’t see a verification email. - quarterlife does not send a verification email. Once you sign-up on the site, you’re account is active. However, we may send you an email to welcome you to the community and tell you how wonderful we think you are. I can’t log in. - quarterlife does not send a verification email. I forgot my password. - Click on the password text in the top right corner of the site. Enter your email address on the next screen. The site is moving really slowly. - We could be experiencing a large amount of visitors, or your connection may be working slowly. If the site is working too slow for you to bear, try back in a couple of hours or contact your Internet Service Provider.

Shade How can I ensure my privacy on quarterlife? 1. Never give out your phone numbers, mailing address, passwords, banking details, or other personal information.
2. Don’t accept files or downloads or follow urls from people you don't know or from people you do know, if you weren‘t expecting them.
3. Never arrange to meet someone in person that you know only through the internet.
4. Always make sure you are logged-out of your account when you leave your computer.

What is quarterlife's privacy policy? - quarterlife cares about your privacy. Please see our Privacy Policy for more info. How do I report offensive or inappropriate content? - If you see something on the site that you believe is a violation of quarterlife's Terms of Use, please email info@quarterlife.com and include any relevant links, screenshots, usernames, etc. All reports are kept confidential. What happens when I report someone? - When a report is submitted, we will investigate the claim and determine whether the content should be removed from the site. quarterlife reserves the right to delete any user for violation(s) of our Terms of Use.
